Mr. Shipley has devoted his life to the service of others. He has served his community as an emergency medical technician (EMT), a volunteer firefighter, a US Army soldier, a FBI agent and now as an attorney.
While serving as a FBI agent for 14 years, Mr. Shipley investigated violations of both state and federal crimes. Mr. Shipley has testified in both state and federal court and is intimately familiar with the judicial process. Mr. Shipley’s skills as an investigator and negotiator give him a strong advantage in resolving legal issues in and out of the courtroom. He has worked with judges, prosecuting attorneys, Assistant United States Attorneys, defense attorneys and law enforcement at the local, state and federal level.
While in law school, Mr. Shipley clerked for a law firm located in Knoxville, Tennessee. Mr. Shipley gained valuable experience in the areas of personal injury, criminal defense and DUI defense. Mr. Shipley worked on a complex federal case involving the defense of a person accused of trafficking cocaine. Mr. Shipley has reviewed numerous police DUI video recordings to find inaccuracies and obtain positive results for the clients.
Mr. Shipley graduated from Lincoln Memorial University, Duncan School of Law in Knoxville, Tennessee. While in law school, Mr. Shipley was the vice-president of the Veteran’s Law Society and the Amicus Group. Mr. Shipley received several academic awards for being the top student of the class (CALI Awards) and was an active member of Phi Alpha Delta International Law Fraternity. Mr. Shipley also received the Law Student of Justice award from the Tennessee Supreme Court.
After graduating law school, Mr. Shipley continued to develop his skills to help his clients resolve their legal issues. Mr. Shipley completed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s DUI Detection & Standardized Field Sobriety Testing course. This is the course that police attend to be certified for administering DUI field sobriety tests. Completing this course allows him to analyze and evaluate DUI evidence to ensure that the police properly conducted their investigation and expose officers who make arrests without probable cause. Mr. Shipley has also attended and will continue to attend continuing legal education (CLE) courses to ensure he stays apprised of new case law germane to his client’s cases.
