VETERAN-OWNED LAW FIRM LED BY A FORMER FBI AGENT AND LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER

John Shipley's life has been dedicated to serving others in various capacities. From being an emergency medical technician (EMT) and a volunteer firefighter to serving as a US Army soldier, an FBI agent, and now as an attorney, he has consistently contributed to his community.

During his 14-year tenure as an FBI agent, Mr. Shipley meticulously investigated both state and federal crimes. His extensive experience led him to testify in both state and federal courts, granting him profound familiarity with the judicial process. With his skills as an investigator and negotiator, Mr. Shipley possesses a distinct advantage in resolving legal matters both inside and outside the courtroom. He has collaborated with judges, prosecuting attorneys, Assistant United States Attorneys, defense attorneys, and law enforcement officials at the local, state, and federal levels.

While pursuing his legal education, Mr. Shipley worked as a law clerk at a prominent law firm in Knoxville, Tennessee. This experience provided him with invaluable exposure to personal injury cases, criminal defense matters, and DUI defense. He notably contributed to a complex federal case involving the defense of an individual accused of trafficking cocaine. Additionally, Mr. Shipley diligently reviewed numerous police DUI video recordings to identify inaccuracies and achieve favorable outcomes for his clients.

Mr. Shipley earned his law degree from Lincoln Memorial University, Duncan School of Law in Knoxville, Tennessee. During his time in law school, he held the positions of vice-president in the Veteran's Law Society and the Amicus Group. His academic excellence was recognized through multiple CALI Awards, acknowledging him as the top student in his class. Moreover, Mr. Shipley actively participated in the Phi Alpha Delta International Law Fraternity and received the prestigious Law Student of Justice award from the Tennessee Supreme Court.

Following his graduation, Mr. Shipley continued to enhance his skills to effectively assist his clients in resolving their legal issues. He completed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's DUI Detection & Standardized Field Sobriety Testing course, which is attended by law enforcement officers to become certified in administering DUI field sobriety tests. This qualification enables him to analyze and evaluate DUI evidence, ensuring the proper conduct of police investigations and exposing arrests made without probable cause. Additionally, Mr. Shipley remains committed to his professional development by regularly attending continuing legal education (CLE) courses, allowing him to stay updated on new case law relevant to his clients' cases.
